Ann Mitchell for Dacula City Council

Thank you Dacula citizens for electing me to serve you as City Councilwoman for another term!

Ann has been a resident of Dacula since 2005.  She and her husband, Dennis, have been married since 1999.  They have two grown sons, Aaron and Eli.  Ann is a very friendly and outgoing person who rarely meets a stranger!  She identifies as a Christ-follower and seeks God’s guidance in every decision.

Ann enjoys acting in live theatre, lots of laughter, the outdoors (specifically the mountains), delicious food, and reading.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Business and Consumer Services from Georgia Southern University.  She is very consumer saavy.

A Word from Ann:
I hear elected officials, and those running for office, mention “platforms.”  I don’t ascribe to that philosophy.  Council members are non-partisan officials making decisions for a broad range of individuals.  I find it difficult to pick one ideology and make promises towards that end.  I always want to be fair in my representation of every citizen within my jurisdiction.  I want to make decisions that are best for everyone.

My first term as a Dacula City Councilwoman has afforded me a lot of education of how my city is run.  I feel well-trained and prepared to carry out another term.  I have no desire to serve multiple terms in office.  Two terms should be sufficient for me to continue to affect change.

During my tenure, I have been very influential in communication to our citizens by instigating concise social media platforms and providing events for citizens to meet with council members outside of monthly council meetings.

If I were to ascribe to a platform, it would be “VOTE!”  Voting is both a right and a privilege.  I cannot urge citizens enough to vote in every type of election, especially local elections.  Local elections are vitally important!  Local officials make decisions that actually affect your daily life.
